7 Predictions For Ronda Rousey's UFC Return
4. She May Regret Not Joining A New Camp
One of the more salacious "scandals" in Ronda Rousey's storied career has actually revolved around her coach, generally regarded as one of the worst in professional MMA at this level.
Edmond Tarverdyan runs Glendale Fighting Club, where Rousey started her MMA journey. Rousey is loyal, possibly to a fault. As the story goes (recounted in part by Rousey's own mother, herself a world champion in Judo), Tarverdyan originally wanted little to do with the star.
Once it was apparent that she would be his cash cow, however, he was all in. Which would be fine - if he was a good coach. However, the horrid advice he gave Rousey between rounds during her Holly Holm fight (telling 'Rowdy' that she was doing great and winning the fight, and to keep on following an obviously flawed game place), and the fact that he had previously bragged about her boxing ability despite obvious deficiencies, is downright criminal.
Wait, no it's not, that's a little hyperbole. What is criminal is Tarverdyan's criminal record, which includes identity theft and resisting arrest. After he failed to disclose that, he had his cornerman's license pulled in California earlier this year. On top of that, he somehow managed to turn coaching the world's most famous fighter into bankruptcy, and owes money all over the place.
These could prove to be deadly distractions for Rousey.
