7 Reasons Dean Ambrose Failed As WWE World Champion

4. The World Champion Isn't Your #1 Draft Pick?!

Sure, it tied in with the Authority/Rollins love story, but surely the number one pick for a pro wrestling draft would be the organisations' world champion? Not only that, but a champion who has consistently stayed healthy and proved to be a draw despite often fighting against the creative movers and shakers.

Instead, WWE went ahead with Seth Rollins as the number one draft pick for RAW. This was allowed to happen almost precisely because Ambrose was champion. If John Cena, Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar were champion, would Rollins have been picked first? Somehow, I highly doubt it.

The WWE World Champion not being the first draft pick overall hurt the credibility of the title somewhat, although it didn't hurt the individual credibility of Dean Ambrose that much. Read into that what you will.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
