7 Reasons Roman Reigns Should Beat The Undertaker At WrestleMania 33
3. WrestleMania Needs Some Shock Value
There’s little on the WrestleMania 33 card to set pulses racing at the moment. The WWE Championship, Raw Women’s Title, and US Title matches look strong, but they’re almost nullified by the potential Seth Rollins vs. Triple H bout, The Miz/Maryse vs. John Cena/Nikki Bella, and AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon (surely one of the most egregious misuses of a high-level talent in 'Mania history).
Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar is particularly problematic, and not only because the match is unlikely to go for any longer than a couple of minutes. Goldberg is currently 2-0 over Lesnar, and eliminated him from the Royal Rumble with embarrassing ease. Thus, this is one of the most predictable main events in WrestleMania history: Lesnar is almost certainly going to go over, become Universal Champion, and send Goldberg straight back to retirement.
As such, WrestleMania 33 is in dire need of some major talking points and surprises. It’s easy to be cynical about Reigns vs. Undertaker, but if Reigns were to defeat 'Taker in Orlando, it’d send the show’s shock value through the roof. Wrestling thrives on such moments, and for all the other matches’ positive qualities, they’re not exactly laced with intrigue. The Undertaker losing at WrestleMania is still absolutely massive, and Reign’s victory would blow the wrestling world apart, particularly if he does it as a heel.
