7 Reasons Why WWE Breaking Up The Shield Was Horrible For Business

7. The WWE Universe Is Desperately Searching For Someone To Believe In

WWE fans are in a sad state right now. In the near 1000 days since The Shield were together, they've seen numerous babyfaces and heels that they're willing to really get behind have their pushes neutered, careers almost ended and/or being told to grab some imaginary "brass ring" that's a surefire harbinger of success. If WWE had just kept The Shield together as a trio since last June, the company would be in a completely different place, and maybe even doing better business, too. The WWE Universe is acutely aware that change in pro wrestling is afoot. As well, the company's fans desire change that they can get behind and fully support, too. For as much as it made sense to shake up booking and create one new heel and two fresh babyfaces, sometimes you can't argue with perfection, and after besting Evolution, The Shield was about as perfect of a faction as wrestling had seen since say, the nWo. Once you shatter perfection, IMperfection -- in the case of any other WWE creative decision regarding Shield members that didn't see them as a trio -- is somewhat bittersweet.
