7 Stupidest Reasons WWE Refused To Push Superstars

3. ... Or His Hairstyle (Dolph Ziggler, Again)

Arn spins a good yarn, but Dolph Ziggler's stuttering ascent up WWE's summit of stardom may have nothing whatsoever to do with his locker room ring-leading, and everything to do with his ringlet locks. His hair. We're talking about his hair.

Yes, unbelievably, despite rocking a bleached blonde style which did wonders for about 900 NWA mainstays throughout the '80s, Ziggler was apparently told way back in 2011 that his distinct coiffure could preclude him from a place at the top table. That was the preposterous situation as he explained during a talkSPORT interview earlier this year.

And so, knowing full well it'd fail, Dolph had a trim, returning on the 18 April 2011 edition of Raw with a short, brown crew cut.

A haircut did about as much for Ziggler as it did for Samson; within three weeks, he was back to his usual look, but now had renewed backstage leverage from accepting their idiotic suggestion. No wonder they'd spite him for the next decade, thinking they'd told him to trim those damn sideburns.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
