5. Broken Matt Hardy
The Hardy Boys are one of the definitive acts of the Attitude Era, and as popular a tag team as WWE has ever produced. With their nu-metal aesthetic, cool hand gestures, high-flying antics, and excellent in-ring work, Matt and Jeff are one of the most well-regarded and beloved tag teams of the '90s and early 2000s.
Jeff Hardy went on to have a stellar solo run, too, but it wasn't until way after the pair left WWE that Matt found his biggest moment. Nothing about Broken Matt Hardy should have worked. He'd essentially begun looking like a wizard and spouting gibberish in a way that made him sound like a medieval villain, but the level of Matt's performance and his brilliant mind for the business made him a catchphrase-creating machine.
The Final Deletion is an absolute masterpiece in wrestling silliness, and it's no exaggeration to say that Matt felt as hot on the indies as The Bullet Club or any of the other acts in Ring of Honor or New Japan in 2016. It petered out in WWE (as so many things that they didn't create do), but Matt Hardy had tens of thousands of wrestling's "coolest" fans shouting "DELETE!" as if their lives depended on it.
