4. King Booker
King of the Ring is an excellent idea that has previously come with a somewhat high cost. The push that came with winning WWE's annual tournament didn't used to be a title shot at SummerSlam like it is today. Instead, the performer who won was simply known as 'King' for a year and saddled with the gimmick of being a royal, and the vast majority of winners didn't have the chops to wear the crown convincingly.
The only two people to truly embrace the gimmick and make it work to their advantage were 'Macho King' Randy Savage and King Booker. Having been saddled with G.I. Bro in WCW, Booker T was no stranger to questionable gimmicks, but as King Booker, he rose to the occasion and played a WWE King better than literally anybody to date.
Instantly becoming snootier, more regal in his gestures, and wonderfully incorporating his wife, Queen Charmelle, into proceedings, King Booker was one of the best runs of Booker T's incredible career. It is still revered to this day, and considering this was a gimmick that even Bret Hart couldn't embody convincingly, that is one hell of an achievement.
