7 Things We Learned From The Evolution Of CM Punk - Episode 2
1. Punk Is Putting A Lot Of Pressure On Himself
One thing is clear by the end of the episode: CM Punk is putting a lot of pressure on himself. "I want to be better than I am. I can always learn, I get better every day, but I want to be ready" he says to the camera.
Understandable, but no one ever became a champion - or even a successful fighter - by rushing. Which is why it has taken this long for CM Punk's professional debut to become a reality.
However, before he can build off the success of his most recent sparring session, disaster strikes. Says Punk in a voice over at the end of the episode,
It was probably my best day. I was more relaxed. I feel myself getting better. And then I got hurt.
Punk is seen icing a shoulder injury, an injury that would lead to eventual surgery, and will be covered in the next episode.
The injury combined with the pressure Punk puts on himself no doubt hinders his training, but we'll have to wait until next week to determine how much of a setback it really is. Right now, things could go one of two ways: either Punk was blossoming as a fighter and then got hurt, or Punk was struggling with the pace of his training, and the injury may have been a blessing in disguise.
