7 Things We Learned From The Evolution Of CM Punk Final Episode

2. The Show Ends On A High Note

Watching The Evolution of Punk was an exercise in looking for positives among a whole host of filler and dated information. Part of the problem has been that most of the info the show provided leaked out bit by bit as Punk was in training, but there's also some questionable decisions in editing (do we need to see that much of his move, do we need to see his home gym?).

Still, we did learn in episode four that Punk has managed to find success in sparring, and in that, the show ends on a high note. One of the final sequences in a sparring session in which Punk pretty much dominates an opponent, and taps him out with a rear-naked choke. Entering into it, striking coach Scott Cushman praises Punk's ability to get in position, but cautions that he should accept giving up on a submission to save a dominant position.

In this last sparring session, Punk seems to put all the advice of his various coaches together.

Not bad. The only problem is that, in sparring, fighters aren't going at it 100%. We don't really know how well Punk would have done against this opponent in a live fight any more than we know how he'll do against Mickey Gall come Saturday night. We can speculate, but that's it.

However, it was a high note to end on.
