7 Things WWE Fans Wanted (Until They Got Them)
3. Dean Ambrose's Heel Turn
Roman Reigns was and perhaps still is WWE's Golden Boy. Seth Rollins, while only reaching the status of the face of the company in recent months, has orbited around the main event scene almost non-stop for many years. Dean Ambrose was clearly less coveted by WWE and burdened with a ridiculous "lunatic" gimmick, which did his popularity no favors.
So, when he returned from injury more jacked and ready to rumble than ever it seemed like the best time to pull the plug. Dean turning heel was seemingly a dream come true. It was supposed to help revitalize his character and finally push him back into the spotlight on equal position with his former Shield teammates. And yet, it's looked on as a great disappointment and one of the reasons he decided to leave WWE.
WWE creative managed to turn him from a vicious badass to a bad joke in a matter of weeks. They made him do promos pretending to get vaccine shots, walk around in gas masks and call fans dirty. Apparently, they also wanted him to say a line about Roman Reign's cancer so disgusting that he didn't even want to repeat it.
