7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 2005

5. Two Solid Major Title Matches And An Awful Casket Match

The rest of the midcard featured both the WWE (Smackdown) and World Titles (Raw) on the line. JBL defended the World Title against Kurt Angle and Big Show. JBL's title reign was so long that there was always a lot of doubt about when he was going to lose the gold. There was a big spot with Big Show giving JBL a spear through the barricade at ringside, which was a fresh spot at that time. There was interference from JBL's Cabinet the Basham Brothers as well as Angle's posse Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak. The ref even got pulled out of the ring at one point. JBL was helped by Orlando Jordan, who put him in the ring and nailed Angle with a Clothesline from Hell for the win. It was a solid match, but nothing that memorable. Any time Triple H wrestled Randy Orton they had pretty good matches, but rarely had match of the year type of matches. At this point, Orton was the babyface that was challenging the heel World Champion (and former mentor) Triple H. Orton really wasn't that great as a face and ended up turning heel again soon after this. This was just a match to put over Hunter heading into WrestleMania. Following a ref bump, Hunter took advantage of things and got the clean win with the Pedigree to retain the title. The Undertaker's Casket Match with Heidenreich was pretty bad. It's one of those things where Heidenreich could be praised for putting in a good effort, but Heidenreich that was a below average wrestler that was limited in terms of what he could do. It was good for The Undertaker when that feud ended and went on to face some better opponents. As for Heidenreich, at least he found a new friend in Snitsky.
Here's some of their epic dialogue. Heidenreich: "Snitsky!" Snitsky: "Heidenreich!" Heidenreich: "I don't like coffins!" Snitsky: "Neither do I! But I like you John!" Heidenreich: "And I like you Gene! But I still don't like coffins!" That's nice to know.
