7 Times John Cena Did Actually Give Up

5. vs Kurt Angle - Eric Bischoff Special Referee (Monday Night Raw October 24 2005)

Screwjob finishes are becoming quite a prominent feature in this list, and in this case it was Eric Bischoff doing the screwing. As WWE Champion John Cena faced off against Kurt Angle in a non-title bout, Bischoff entered the fray after Special Guest Referee Mick Foley had been taken out of the equation. Donning the black-and-white officials€™ uniform, the former WCW chief made it no secret whose side he was on. Having saved Angle from an Attitude Adjustment, he then forced Cena€™s hand down to the canvass after the Olympic Hero had locked the champ in the Ankle Lock. Bischoff called for the bell and named Angle the winner€”taking the phrase €œinvoluntary submission€ to an entirely different level. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4uuxj_john-cena-vs-kurt-angle-special-ref_sport Like the Last Man Standing match with Edge though, it€™s plausible that Cena would have tasted defeat regardless of Bischoff€™s shenanigans. Though Cena made it to the ropes moments after his hand had been forced down, Angle then pulled his opponent back toward the centre of the ring. Would Cena have been able to hang on? We€™ll never know for sure, but what we do know is that Cena once again gave up€ sort of.
