7 Times The Authority Actually Helped John Cena

6. He Was In A Huge Match To Unify WWE & World Titles - TLC 2013

The TLC PPV in December 2013 featured the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena taking on the WWE Champion Randy Orton. A lot of people groaned at the idea of more Cena/Orton matches, but at least in this case it was a big match done to combine the two major titles into one WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Their main event match was under TLC rules, so the winner had to climb up a ladder to yank the titles down. It was a competitive battle where most people probably thought Cena would win because...let's face it, the guy usually wins. Instead, Orton got crafty by handcuffing Cena to the bottom rope. That allowed Orton to get the advantage, put Cena through another table and win the match that way. If The Authority really had a problem with Cena, they wouldn't even put him in a match like that where their handpicked champion Orton could lose. Instead, they gave Cena a fair shot and he lost the match without any interference of any kind.
