7 Times The Authority Actually Helped John Cena

2. After Losing WWE Title To Lesnar, He Got Rematch

Cena successfully defended the WWE Title at the July Battleground PPV in a very predictable four way match. Following his win, he went on to defend the WWE Title against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. It was a heavily promoted match, which was arguably the biggest of the year. Lesnar won the WWE Title from Cena. He dominated 95% of the match and it really wasn't close. We haven't seen a WWE Title match booked like that where a guy dominates the action for 15 minutes and wins easily. It was an ass kicking of epic proportions. Even though he was defeated soundly in a way that we really haven't seen before, Cena was given his WWE Title rematch at Night of Champions. In the build to that match, they actually had Cena threaten to sue Triple H if he was pulled from the match, which really weren't the actions of a babyface. It made him come off as a crybaby. Their NOC match was much more competitive. It was a match that he actually won by Disqualification after Seth Rollins interfered. We haven't seen Lesnar since then (it's been about two months since that match) and they really did a poor job of explaining why he's not even around. Since Cena failed to win the WWE Title at Night of Champions, you might think that there would be no more title matches. You are wrong if you thought that.
