7 Ups & 1 Down From WWE SmackDown (14 Feb - Results & Review)
6. Similarities Don’t Hold Them Back

Some combos don't blend well in WWE. Steve Austin and The Undertaker always felt clunky, for some reason, but not because they were similar. There was just a weird lack of chemistry between two top names. Any worries that LA Knight and The Miz (who are similar) would be the same were put to bed mere minutes into their United States Title number one contendership battle on Friday.
Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett pointed to the parallels between Knight and Miz immediately, then put Knight over as more likeable. They do have a similar style, but both worked hard and had a solid match. LA won, and now he’s going after Shinsuke Nakamura’s US Title. This fan has gone back and forth on Knight’s booking recently, but he has no issues with LA vs. Naka happening again in 2025.
The post-match standoff was a bit odd because they didn’t come to blows, but that’s no biggie either.
Now, they can either headline a three hour episode of SmackDown (which would be sweet) or get a midcard spot at Elimination Chamber. It does look likely that Knight will be reclaiming the gold soon enough though, because there's probably more branching paths to go with him as champ than Shin. Oh well, it was worth it for Nakamura's Mortal Kombat-esque reinvention; his title win hardly made the belt worthless.
The Miz knows his role since moving to SmackDown too. He's there to make others look good, and could potentially help Carmelo Hayes out by teaming with him in the future. WWE presumably won't let that 'Melo Don't Miz' name go to waste.
