7 Ups & 1 Down From WWE SmackDown (May 1)
Ups...
7. That Jobber's Performance
On the plus side, Sheamus got to beat the snot out of another jobber, and the guy didn't disappoint by selling for his life here. Honestly, the way he sold and screamed and sold and screamed (and sold and screamed some more) with every backbreaker or chest smash was a work of art.
Take a bow, Leon Ruff.
Squashes like this can be very effective when handled so well; Sheamus seemed to have a good time being the bad guy, Ruff almost topped James Ellsworth's performance against Braun Strowman from 2016 and this was generally the best squash since vintage Sheamus returned in January.
If WWE agents don't make sure Ruff gets another jobber gig at some point in the near future, then they're not doing their jobs correctly. He did his, and his big-bumping style made Sheamus look like the kind of killer Jeff Hardy will have to work hard to beat.
