7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (23 Feb)

Ups...

7. Oh Hey There Buddy

Buddy Matthews Malakai Black
AEW

What was enough, however, was Buddy Matthews' debut.

These things always get a big pop in AEW, where crowds are generally locked in and engaged. Here, an audience that was sleepy through the House of Black match came back alive when the lights popped off. When they came on, Matthews held off just long enough to bring his allegiances into question, then leapt on the babyfaces, becoming the House's third man.

Matthews stomped Penta's face onto a steel chair at Malakai's behest before taking his leave with the Kings of the Black Throne. It was a sharp, impactful first appearance for a wrestler who doesn't seem like the most obvious fit in this lore-heavy group, but should thrive because of his prodigious skills.
