7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (23 Feb)

6. Jade Is Money

Jade Cargill
AEW

There were bells and whistles to Jade Cargill vs. The Bunny, as both Matt Hardy and 'Smart' Mark Sterling got involved towards the end. Hardy was thrown out after sliding the brass knuckles to Bunny. Sterling countered this by giving Jade the TBS Title, which Cargill used, creatively, to block a knuckle shot. When both seconds were squabbling, Bunny almost nailed Down the Rabbit Hole for the win but it was reversed into Jaded.

Bunny worked to her character. That meant grabbing Jade's hair, whiplashing her neck over the top rope, sweeping her into the barricade, and using other tactics to avoid Cargill's power advantage. In an unexpected move, Jade countered this by working the arm. The TBS Champion stayed latched onto the limb to the extent that at one point, she had it tied up between her legs while doing press-ups as if her surname was Steiner. A great, gloating character moment in a solid TV match.

Now a genuine quarter-hour ratings draw, Cargill got some mic time afterwards, calling for her next challenger. Tay Conti emerged to set the two of them up for Revolution. There was an awkward moment here as Conti charged the ring when it sounded like Jade was trying to start another line, but it matters little. This was a good bit of business across the board.
