7 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling (9 Feb)

1. One Dreamer Is All You Need

Contract signings in professional wrestling usually only go down one avenue, that avenue being Someone Goes Through The Table Avenue. That's why the signing between Tommy Dreamer and Rich Swann felt so different. The table remained intact, and we were instead treated to a killer promo from 'The Innovator of Violence'.

Tommy noted that he hasn't actually officially accepted Swann's World Championship opportunity for No Surrender, despite the match having already been announced, while also mentioning that he's only ever won World Championships by going through his friends. He did it against Taz, he did it against Christian, and he aims to do so against Rich Swann at No Surrender.

The interruption from Moose maybe could have gone amiss for one week, however, Dreamer made that work. Seeing how vile 'Mr. Impact Wrestling' has become over the past few years, the hardcore icon read aloud a text message from the TNA World Heavyweight Champion following their weapons-filled brawl at Slammiversary that was essentially Moose saying thank you to Dreamer. Furthermore, Tommy insisted that he no longer wrestles for money, but rather to provide a distraction from the outside world troubles fans watching may be experiencing.

In situations like this, words can't do the segment its proper justice. Tommy Dreamer was phenomenal here. His in-ring work, especially when it comes to proper wrestling contests as opposed to manic brawls, has notably deteriorated over the years, but his promos have only gotten better. Having him work backstage as a producer is something that was destined for Dreamer to do. He now gets to help the future generation of pro wrestling, something he's clearly ecstatic about being able to do.

He's not winning the title, of course, but he's deserving of the opportunity after this.
