7 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling (9 Feb)

3. Jake Finds His Something

The Cousin Jake vs. Violent By Design rivalry has been dragged out for a good while now, but it's been done for good reason. It's been kept as fresh as possible because of the lack of actual hands-on action between The Deaners. Each time they do lay into each other feels special.

Last night, Jake rejected the offer to join VBD, and instead changed his name from Cousin Jake to his independent circuit name of Jake Something. A single stiff forearm to Deaner's jaw was beautiful here. Something found himself with a steel chair wrapped around his neck, with Deaner actually stopping the onslaught himself to request a match with Jake at No Surrender.

There wasn't too much of a need to have the beatdown of Jake, as he wouldn't have really been harmed had he hit Deaner, and then scampered up the ramp. Saving the interactions for No Surrender would have been far better. This was still excellent, though. Jake Something is, finally, here.
