7 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jul 21)

2. Mr TuesBey Night

When a match is as good as Willie Mack vs. Chris Bey was at Slammiversary, chances are the company promoting the match will jump at the chance to hold the same match as soon as possible, something that Impact did to with the X Division Championship rematch kicking off the post-Slammiversary episode.

While not quite as good as their enthralling pay-per-view encounter, Mack and Bey still put in the same level of effort. What was perhaps the most intriguing aspect was a slight change in attitude of 'Chocolate Thunder', as the former champion was far more hard-hitting than what he normally would be. A stiff backfist and pop-up forearm rocked the new champ's jaw, but a failed Six Star Frog Splash opened the door for Bey to land his new cutter off the ropes to kick his reign off in grand fashion.

It's likely that many would have expected the show to kick off with a promo, most likely from the debuting Good Brothers. However, there simply wasn't a better option to begin the show than this. Impact management saw exactly what the two were capable of at Saturday's pay-per-view, and made a perfect booking choice by placing it first on the card. If this is the caliber of matches we can expect from Chris Bey as champion, then 'The Ultimate Finesser's' reign will no doubt be one of the more memorable ones in history.
