7 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's SmackDown (Apr 10)
3. Fight Forever
The Usos vs. New Day might be the easiest home run in SmackDown's arsenal. Throw these teams together at any point and, provided they're given longer than five minutes, it's a guaranteed hit. Their in-ring chemistry is tremendous, their back catalogues vast, and while last night's bout wasn't on the same level as their pay-per-view work, it was still an excellent back-and-forth affair.
The bout was thrown together to decide who'd face new Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers at the Greatest Royal Rumble, and it ruled. With Big E and Xavier Woods representing The New Day, the tandems kept it fast-paced for the most part, and built to a fun conclusion that saw Jimmy and Jey escape the Midnight Hour with a Superkick flurry. From there, a top rope splash scored the victory, and The Usos will now meet the Bludgeons on 27 April.
Sure, it's not exactly a fresh pairing, but who cares when the bouts are so consistent? This felt very much like a 'make good' for WrestleMania's curtailed title fight, and given the standard of previous matches between The Usos and Harper & Rowan, we can't wait for the Greatest Rumble.
