7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (24 April - Results & Review)
Downs...
2. “I Should Be Talking To Roman Reigns!”
Jacob Fatu nailed it when he interrupted all of the talk from The Usos, Solo Sikoa, the MFTs etc to say just that. He's right when he says he should be addressing the 'OTC' himself, not his cousins or any other family members. Also, Jimmy and Jey sort of played heel in this segment, which was interesting but a bit all over the place because of Roman’s presentation.
The match between Roman and Jacob at Backlash is ostensibly babyface vs. babyface until further notice, but with The Usos adding a bit of a rogue element that doesn't seem necessary. It really feels like been there, done that on the issues between Fatu and Solo too - they feuded over the United States Title before, and the results were mixed back then.
Fatu was fine on the mic (again) and did line up a main event, but this was a fairly weak opening segment that was missing the key ingredient. In other words, Jacob having a war of words with Jimmy, Jey and Solo isn't going to come anywhere close to touching a staredown between Fatu and Reigns. That's the real meat in the sandwich here. Everything else will just fall by the wayside.
Predictably, that's what happened.
WWE must sort out what they want The Usos to be, man. They can't have Jimmy tell Jacob not to listen to clowns in the audience, then have both he and Jey pander to those same people with their "YEET" business. That's messy. This whole revolving door promo was, to be perfectly honest.
