7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (3 Mar - Results & Review)
5. IC Title Detours
With WrestleMania 41 still more than six weeks away, not every storyline for each match is running at full speed just yet.
Recently, fans got a glimpse of a fledgling feud between Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker and AJ Styles. Everything looked in order and set for a fun confrontation between the rising star and established veteran. So, why were the two of them miles apart on Raw on Monday night?
Styles ran into Karrion Kross backstage, who nudged AJ toward calling out Logan Paul next week, playing the role of the devil on the Phenomenal One’s shoulder (which Styles noted himself). A Styles/Paul match later this month could be really good if they head in that direction.
Meanwhile, Breakker continued to tangle with the Judgment Day, specifically Finn Balor, who tried to draw Bron into a trap, only to watch everything fall apart. Balor challenging Bron would be an excellent warm-up match for 'Mania.
There also is the possibility that WWE is veering toward “get as many wrestlers as possible on the card” mode and will simply pull all four men (and possibly others) together into an IC title match at WrestleMania. Multi-man matches are a mixed bag: they tend to be more chaotic and energetic than a singles bout, but the emotional investment and depth tend to be less.
For now though, this was perfectly fine as a detour.
