7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 9)

1. The Only Way Is Down?

So much for that run.

Cesaro's inspiring push, which began during the build towards WrestleMania and continued afterwards against Roman Reigns, is seemingly over. He lost a MITB qualifying match to old foe Seth Rollins on this week's show, and that means there's only one way the Swiss star is heading.

SmackDown's resident wrestling machine will now drop down the pecking order, but might land in the Intercontinental Title camp to give Apollo Crews' reign some purpose. That's just a guess, to be fair. It'd be better than nothing for Cesaro, that's for sure.

It kinda sucks to think that WWE would give up on the guy so easily after he showed some serious chops as an upper-tier player. Then again, this promotion has been giving up on Cesaro since 2012. He'll never be the main event linchpin some fans want him to be.
