7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Oct 6)

2. Chaos Project vs. Lee Johnson & Anthony Bowens

Luther Lee Johnson

This was preceded by a strong video package showing the history between Luther and Chris Jericho, who had their first match together back in April 1991. It was an effective history lesson, highlighting that while Jericho is the bigger star today, this wasn't originally the case, with Luther working 60,000-strong houses in Japan while 'Le Champion' was wrestling in halls across Canada. Check it out: it adds genuine importance to their Dynamite bout.

Chaos Project's best match yet followed, as they faced enhancement standout Lee Johnson and the debuting Anthony Bowens, who is a well-regarded if slightly under-the-radar prospects. Nicknamed the 'Five-Tool Player,' he looks exactly the kind of guy AEW should be taking a look at at the moment, and while opportunities to stand out were fleeting here, he'll likely get another shot on a future episode. What Bowens was allowed to do looked good, though.

Luther using Serpentico as a projectile is a fun wrinkle that gives Chaos Project a neat stylistic twist. It was in full effect here as the duo entered a good performance, taking the win.
