7 Ups & 4 Downs from WWE Raw (9 June - Results & Review)
6. Nikki Meets Her Match
Every time Nikki Bella returns to WWE, the announcers fall over each other talking about how she’s a trailblazer and a legendary figure in women’s wrestling, and anyone who was there for the original experience just has to roll their eyes.
Bella deserves credit for her work, but the hero worship building her up like she was Manami Toyota is a bit too much. So, why is her return on Raw getting an “up”?
Nikki came out and started by plugging Evolution next month and praising the current women’s division, name-dropping several wrestlers (including botching Stephanie Vaquer’s name). This brought out Liv Morgan, who cut off her music and started berating Bella for omitting her name. Liv ticked off her resumé and took a swipe at Nikki’s relationship status before Bella came back by suggesting she was a sore loser who was losing her boyfriend to Roxanne Perez.
The Fearless One went to leave, but Liv goaded her back into the ring and hit her with Oblivion as she re-entered. It was a simple, but effective way to reintegrate Nikki Bella for Evolution, with a tag title match a strong possibility. If not, a singles match between Liv and Nikki could be fine.
Unlike earlier WWE, where legends would constantly get the upper hand on current talent, this worked decently with Liv spiking Bella as punishment for being overlooked.
