7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Mar 15)

1. Big Meaty Men Slapping Meat

Bobby Lashley Sheamus

Bobby Lashley vs. Sheamus was a bruising, physical match in keeping with recent Raw offerings like the fantastic Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre bouts, as two of WWE's biggest, beefiest boys dropped big bombs and beat the life out of each other.

While not as violent as the last Sheamus/McIntyre match, this was satisfyingly meaty. Unafraid of fighting on the ground, Lashley slowed things down on a few occasions early on, attempting to wear Sheamus out, which was welcome. Working an identical layout to the Drew bouts wouldn't have been ideal. There were layout similarities later on, but those early lulls helped distinguish this clash from what came before.

Unafraid of laying it in with every move and strike, Lashley and Sheamus almost felt like they were flexing in front of the onlooking McIntyre, who cut a typically assertive promo before the bout. He had a perfect seat as Lashley, that beast of a man, kept kicking out at one late on, as he and Sheamus worked fast-moving kickout exchanges before working to the finish.

Sheamus' White Noise scored a close two-count, but the Irishman was speared out of midair while attempting the Brogue Kick. Bobby looked to inflict further punishment with a post-match Hurt Lock but was Claymored by Drew to close.

Matches this impactful don't come along often on WWE television, so we are living through a rare, appreciated era at the moment. The big lads are doing great things. Don't bet against McIntyre and Sheamus' Fastlane clash being one of the best WWE matches of the year on Sunday.
