7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 17)

2. "Has Anyone Seen Shorty G?"

Sheamus Shorty G
WWE

Ugh, the short jokes are back.

When Sheamus attacked Shorty G during his return bit several weeks ago, it was hoped that he'd offer something different for Chad Gable to get stuck into; Sheamus could've pointed out that he was targeting Shorty because he saw something in him, knew of his Olympic background and wanted to test himself against a fine athlete before hunting titles.

WWE, again, said b*llocks to that and went in a different direction. They're booking Sheamus to make those God awful height jokes and relying on the most one-dimensional aspect of Shorty's entire character. "Has anyone seen Shorty G?" is not stellar banter. When will the writers learn that this isn't particularly interesting stuff?

Gable is roughly the same size as most wrestlers on NXT, and he matches up physically with a fair number of others on Raw and SmackDown. It makes no sense that he won Tag Titles for years then suddenly "came to terms" with the fact he's not 6'5".
