7 Ups & 5 Downs For WWE Raw (14 July - Results & Review)

6. Rusev, Sheamus To Run It Back

One of the biggest challenges Rusev was going to face when returning to WWE was reintroducing himself to a new audience that doesn’t remember him, and those who do remember the guy from the League of Nations whose wife ran off with Bobby Lashley.

Upon returning, Rusev needed to get down to business and crush the opposition. Naturally, WWE responded masterfully by booking him in just three televised matches in his first two months, one of which was a four-way King of the Ring qualifier he lost.

Thankfully, WWE paired Rusev up with Sheamus, and the two made magic in their match on Raw two weeks ago. Monday, it was announced that they will run it back.

Rusev got off a pretty good line in his interview about how people call him a god, but he’s more of a saint, killing Irish snakes. Sheamus entered the frame and revealed that they will have a rematch, with an unimpressed Rusev noting that he came to WWE for gold, not gingers.

There’s still a decent chance WWE can heat up Rusev with another banger with Sheamus, and then some direction afterward. If Rusev just disappears for four weeks or cuts pre-taped promos, then this isn’t going to work.
