7 Ups & 6 Downs From Impact Wrestling Hard To Kill 2020

5. Trey's Revenge

After weeks of torment by Ace Austin towards his mother, Trey finally got the chance to gain some retribution over 'The One True Ace' in their X Division Championship, and he did exactly that. Right off the bat, the match was fought like an actual fight, with Trey taking Ace to the mat, and pounding away with punch after punch after punch.

It wasn't the sort of match you'd expect to see from the X division, as it featured a lot more ground and pound as opposed to high-flying moves. There was, of course, still some moves that took to the air, as Ace connected with a truly spectacular Fosbury Flop, one of the moves he's perfected (or aced, if you'll pardon the pun). Sadly, Trey's mother was still one of the main focuses during the match, but that didn't necessarily take anything away from the match.

Trey came exceptionally close to capturing the championship, but Austin still found a way to pick up the win thanks to The Fold, and would continue the comments towards Mrs. Miguel post-match. With a fight between champion and challenger having to be broken up by referees and fellow wrestlers following the bell, it's clear that the issues between these two will be rolling on for the foreseeable future.

If Trey's mother remains at the forefront of the rivalry, then an honorary Down for that part alone. Otherwise though, a highly enjoyable X Division Championship. Not as spot-heavy as some other bouts from the division that we've seen in recent times, but an exciting encounter nonetheless.
