7 Ups & 6 Downs From Impact Wrestling Hard To Kill 2020

4. Rematch Delivers

When Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin opted not to wait until Hard To Kill by having their match on last week's episode of Impact, there was a slight bit of doubt that their actual pay-per-view match wouldn't have the same sort of hype around it. Coming away from the match though, we can all agree that possibility was false. It was just as good, if not better, than the original match.

It didn't take long for things to take a turn when 'Big Mike' pulled back the ring mats to unveil the concrete floor, something which he later used to deliver a pulverising apron-assisted neckbreaker. As was the case with their first bout, Edwards showed just how much strength he has inside him, as he hoisted Elgin off the mat on several occasions, most notably when he suplexed both him and the Canadian powerhouse over the top rope and down to ringside.

After a strike exchange and a casual German suplex off the top rope, Eddie reversed an Elgin Bomb with a surprise rollup to not only defeat 'Big Mike', but to also retain his Call Your Shot trophy. Just like their TV match, this was a perfect example of two wrestlers with different styles of wrestling coming together to produce a superb match that didn't rely on a great story to sell itself.

Now, Eddie can (presumably) move forward with his Impact career to focus on creating the perfect moment to cash in that title opportunity. He still has a bit of unfinished business with X Division Champion Ace Austin. Find someone who wouldn't want to see those two face off again.
