7 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE's Road To WrestleMania 38

5. Beth Phoenix Backs Up Her Man

What a moment it was when Beth Phoenix emerged to say, 'Uh uh, Bitch' to Maryse and ride to Edge's rescue at Day 1. Fans in Atlanta popped huge for the 'Glamazon', and those who had lobbied for a mixed tag between both power couples were pleased that WWE went that route.

It's also cool that WWE managed to squeeze this in before trying to turn Edge heel. Mr and Mrs 'Rated-R' would've been super-proud to team up come the Royal Rumble, and their young kids must've had a blast watching mum and dad kick some ass together.

This was win-win for everybody.

The angle was a fine way to cap off Edge's emotional return story pre-heel experiment, and the actual match itself was well-worked. Phoenix storming out to save Edge from a two-on-one beatdown at the hands of The Miz and Maryse is mainly what earned this an 'Up' though.
