7 Ups And 1 Down From UFC 245
4. Up - GOAT
While it might not have been the most exciting fight of her career, UFC women's featherweight and bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes should still be happy following a mostly dominant victory over former UFC women's 145 lb champ, Germaine de Randamie.
While we've seen Nunes utilise her devastating punching power against the likes of Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm and Cris Cyborg, she went for a different approach against the more seasoned striker. Instead of fighting fire with fire, Nunes took advantage of her superior grappling skills and dominated de Randamie on the ground for four of the five rounds.
Despite Nunes' dominance, it would be a crime to not give de Randamie kudos for improved skills. When the two fought on the UFC: Fight for the Troops 3 event back in 2013, she wasn't able to stop or defend herself against Nunes' barrage of ground strikes. However, she's clearly made vast improvements in her ground game, which allowed her to stay on in there for longer than most would be able too.
While she'll never be a submission specialist, the fact that she's taken the time to improve on that specific weakness in her game is truly impressive.
