7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2019

5. Well, That Was Different

When Miz and Shane McMahon formed a tag team late last year, conventional wisdom would say that eventually, Miz would turn on his partner and reveal his true colors.

But instead, we got the opposite Sunday night.

Miz and Shane came up short again at Fastlane, with Miz taking the pinfall loss to the Usos. Afterward, he and Shane left the ring together and commiserated with Miz’s father, only for McMahon to blast his partner from behind and then pummel him outside the ring. Shane then grabbed Miz’s father and yelled at him before returning to attack the Awesome One some more.

Oh, and did we mention that all of this happened in Miz’s hometown of Cleveland?

After years of Miz being a pure heel, he actually generated real sympathy from the hometown faithful. For the first time in forever, Shane has turned heel, while Miz is playing babyface. Whether that carries beyond Cleveland remains to be seen, but at least they tried something different.
