7 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Aug 17)

Joe and Kross (hopefully) destroyed NXT's CWC beyond repair coming into WWE's big weekend.

WWE.comArguably the biggest weekend in WWE's recent history is finally within reach, and NXT showed no signs of playing second fiddle as the black and gold brand put the finishing touches on a TakeOver 36 conclusion which seems determined to steal the whole week.

Before we got to Sunday, though, there was just the small order of an NXT Tag Team Championship showdown, a bruising battle between two of the brand's heaviest hitters, and the sort of promo that can very literally put hairs on your chest to get out of the way first.

This is still Tuesday nights we're talking about, however, so expect your usual array of head-scratching developments and baffling segments too. But, hey, nothing's perfect... except In-Dex's love if you're a member of the always-hospitable YouTube comments section.

Main event level feuds were given the lift and/or boost they needed coming into one of the biggest TakeOvers since TakeOvers began, finals were finalised in what has been one of the finest tournaments hosted by Triple H's gang of misfits, and the former Kliq man was even able to sneak in a cheeky Kevin Nash reference during a cinematic brawl.

We're not quite ready to TakeOver just yet, but the go-home episode of NXT certainly left you champing at the bit for what is to come...
