7 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (April 23)

4. And The Winner Receives…

Daniel Bryan Greatest Royal Rumble Celebrate

The endless hype surrounding Friday’s Greatest Royal Rumble was excruciating. Raw cut away from matches for in-show commercials hyping the Network special event. The announcers plugged the event at every turn. Even wrestlers mentioned GRR throughout the show. If you watched 10 minutes of Raw, you saw a plug for the event.

To be honest, Greatest Royal Rumble probably got a harder sell than the average WWE PPV. And with seven titles on the line and the largest Royal Rumble ever, it’s understandable. But it was a little ridiculous how much hype was bestowed on the event, especially when you consider what the winner of the Rumble receives.

No, it’s apparently not a title shot or a fictional cash prize. It’s a trophy – one that hasn’t been revealed in person, but was represented in the PPV graphics. That’s it, a trophy. That’s some reward for winning the biggest Rumble in history.
