7 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE NXT TakeOver: Respect

The TakeOver series has had several simple, yet effective names: Arrival (the first event), Rival, (R)Evolution, and now Respect. It€™s reassuring to hear WWE€™s developmental system talk about how the €œultimate prize€ is respect, especially considering that the parent company has had wrestlers feuding over a shampoo commercial, spilled coffee, tweets, retaining the €œMiz brand€ and of course, Total Divas conflicts. NXT opened its latest special event reliving Bayley€™s crowning achievement, then showing a host of other legendary champions winning their titles: Daniel Bryan, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Booker T (in WCW, no less), Ron Simmons and Ultimate Warrior. The narrator made sure to note that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was all about paying respect to the late American Dream, while Bayley/Sasha Banks is now more of a respect feud over the NXT Women€™s Championship. Fans would probably respect WWE more if some of this mentality spilled over to the main roster.
