7 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 9)

2. Becky Ups Her Promo Game

Let’s face it: Becky Lynch is at her best when she can really dig into a rivalry and mix insults with humor and pure aggression.

That version of The Man came around Monday night, when Lynch opened Raw by first putting over her WrestleMania 36 opponent, Shayna Baszler. Becky then laid into her, calling her a “world-class scumbag,” a “black hole of charisma” and a constipated robot from NXT. She noted that while Baszler called her a “b*tch” after winning the Elimination Chamber match, Lynch is the “b*tch that runs this division.”

But then Lynch turned serious, observing that Shayna is discounting and underestimating her, which only pisses her off more. And that’s a powerful motivator for the Raw Women’s Champion, a woman who’s held the title for 11 months and is being overlooked by her challenger.

Lynch managed to turn the godawful EC match from Sunday around simply by delivering a strong promo – and WWE was smart to keep Baszler off-camera for at least one night.
