Squash matches are a mixed bag at times. Sure, they can get over a superstar as a killer without burning a “name” wrestler, but if you don’t put on an impressive showing, it can backfire.

Monday night, Raw newcomer Austin Theory squared off against Akira Tozawa. Knowing that Theory is competing in a Money in the Bank qualifying match next week pretty much telegraphed the ending of this match, but it still could have been something entertaining.

Instead, Theory stomped, hit a chinlock and snoozed through much of the match, with the excitement being provided by Tozawa until Austin countered an Octopus with the ATL (his version of a TKO) for the win.

Again, it’s tough to hold it entirely against Theory, but this wasn’t the kind of impressive win you want to put over a new star.
