7 Ups From Last Night's WWE NXT (April 6)

2. One More Win For Crews

Crews and Samson proceeded to have a match that, like Corbin versus Aries, saw the heel dominate with some less than scintillating offense. Still, it was Crews who picked up victory, giving him momentum heading into his main roster debut just three days later.

Earlier, I complimented the decision to have Austin Aries beat Baron Corbin on Corbin's way out of NXT, but this situation was different. For one thing, whether WWE wants to admit it or not, Crews has dozens of times the long-term potential than Corbin does. Secondly, Corbin's loss came to Austin Aries, a future star of the NXT brand. The same can't be said for Elias Samson.

Crews's time in NXT was short, surprising many fans who assumed he'd be a cornerstone of the brand prior to his main roster debut. Nevertheless, he's come to Raw with a good deal of momentum, and hopefully that means the company has major plans for him.
