7 Ways TNA Resembles A Dying WCW

4. The X-Division Means Nothing

When WCW and the WWF were battling for the hearts and wallets of fans, the WCW faithful could point to the Cruiserweight division as superior to most of the talent in Vince's company. It was like nothing that had ever been seen on a national scale. To this day, it's the greatest roster of lightweight wrestlers ever assembled with talent like Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Juventud Guerrera, and Eddie Guerrero to name a few. As the years went on and Eric Bischoff was ousted from power, the division became a shell of its former self. Future booking regimes like Vince Russo and Kevin Sullivan either didn't care about the belt or made it a joke when talent like Madusa, Oklahoma and The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea all had their runs with the gold. As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
