7 Ways WWE Screwed Up At SummerSlam 2018

5. A Complete Waste Of Time

Pointless. Utterly pointless.

Elias' SummerSlam performance was advertised before the show, but anyone assuming it'd actually lead somewhere was left disappointed. The former 'Drifter' sat in the ring, said his piece, and readied the crowd for a song. Unfortunately, he strummed a little too hard. His Fender acoustic's neck snapped at the joint, he looked mildly peeved, then lashed out at the set behind him.

That was it. There was no sign of recent rival Bobby Lashley, or even a new face to lead him through a Hell In A Cell programme. Elias came down, d*cked around, took a huff, the cameras cut elsewhere, and that was the extent of it.

Such filler segments might be forgivable on Raw or SmackDown, but not one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year. That WWE would even bother advertising Elias if this was the best they could come up with is mind-boggling. It furthered nothing, got nothing over, and provoked only confusion in the building, as the fans (like those at home) were left waiting for an interference that never came.
