7 White-Hot Wrestlers That BURNED OUT Overnight
5. EC3
A lot of the superstars on this list are victims of their own actions, but spare a little thought for EC3. After years of ripping it up in TNA, Ethan Carter III felt like a man destined for the WWE. His charisma, look, and size all felt like a Vince McMahon wet dream, and when he signed on to NXT, it felt like the start of massive things for the jacked superstar.
Only things didn't turn out that way at all. Performing during a time when NXT was more about great wrestling and felt closer to the indie boom of the time than it did WWE's biggest stages, EC3 felt a little underwhelming for the black and gold brand. The common perception was that bigger things awaited on the main roster, where promos and personality are worth their weight in gold.
Things got even worse for Ethan when he reached the big time. For reasons that make no sense to anybody, WWE decided to make EC3 a mute, rendering his biggest qualities useless. He floundered as a result and was released. So much damage was done to his reputation and (seemingly) confidence that EC3 has failed to capture what made him seem so special prior to signing with WWE.
