7 Worst WWE Title Reigns Of 2017
4. Naomi - SmackDown Women’s Champion (April 2 - August 20)
Naomi deserved another shot with the SmackDown Women’s Championship after her first reign was ended nine days in by a knee injury - but she failed to make the most of it.
Her initial coronation at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in February got the ‘you deserve it’ treatment following years of under-appreciated and exciting ring work, but her second, after a Six Pack Challenge squeezed onto a packed WrestleMania card, fell flat.
The former Funkadactyl carried the belt from 'Mania to SummerSlam, but only had one pay-per-view defence during that time - an awful singles match with Lana at Money In the Bank.
It was seen as a surprise when Naomi dropped the title to Natalya in August, but WWE had nothing for her, and needed to shift the belt to a heel to set up Charlotte’s eventual triumph.
This reign should not deter WWE from putting the belt on Naomi again, but creative need to have better plans in place to allow her to shine as an entertaining fighting champion. She is not an Alexa Bliss, who can carry a feud on the microphone; Naomi needs a dance partner.
And no, we're not talking about Cameron.
