7 Wrestlers WWE Called Up In The WORST Way Possible

2. Lars Sullivan

Lars Sullivan is one of the saddest cases on this list.

In NXT, Sullivan was booked like a beast. He went on a 6 match unbeaten streak in his first solo run, including beating Roderick Strong, and his first TakeOver booking had him competing to become the first-ever North American Champion in a star-studded ladder match.

Even more encouraging than all of this, Sullivan felt like he had that rare formula of being right for both NXT and the all important main roster. He seemed powerful and dominant on the black and gold, and exactly like the kind of monster that Vince McMahon could understand and get behind. When rumors began to surface that he was being considered for a monster push on the main roster and even being eyed as a potential WrestleMania opponent for John Cena at 'Mania 35, the cracks started to appear.

Sullivan began to suffer from extreme anxiety.

He was a WWE original who hadn't had years on the independent circuit to prepare him for life on the road and being a major star with the world's biggest wrestling promotion. He debuted by attacking Kurt Angle on the Raw after the legend's dire WrestleMania 35 retirement match, followed by similar assaults on Rey Mysterio and The Hardys before things would get worse.

Past remarks of a racist, sexist and homophobic variety began to surface, then a knee injury sidelined him for 16 months after just his second match. He was let go just 3 months after returning from that injury and hasn't wrestled again since leaving WWE in January 2021.
