7 WWE Couples Who Got Married In 2019

They say workplace romances are a bad idea.

How can you juggle the intricacies of an emotional relationship with the stresses of a professional one, particularly when you're forced to see one another every single day? Micro-irritations grow into major annoyances, and pretty soon co-workers are trying their best to avoid a blazing row round the water cooler.

And then there's the break-up. Can you say 'untenable'?

When it comes to wrestling romances, the general rule is to take the above maxim and magnify it by about 1000%. It's a historical truism that most squared-circle love affairs end in the divorce courts.

Or at least it used to be. For whatever reason - probably because WWE don't tend to separate them through spite - wrestling couples positively flourish these days, and we've seen numerous grap colleagues ring the wedding bells over the past few years. They're not for traditionalists, mind: once over, it was a guarantee someone would get a faceful of cake, and at least one guest would come brandishing a venomous snake.

2019 saw yet more WWE duos take the walk down a different aisle - and another come exceedingly close. And not a single snake in sight.

7. Peyton Royce & Shawn Spears

Even love can bloom on the battlefield.

That's what happened back in August, when former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion and one half of The IIconics Peyton Royce crossed no-man's land to tie the knot with AEW's 'Chairman', Shawn Spears.

The happy couple shared a set of sun-kissed snaps from their post-nuptial nob-about on a beach, which the Australian lovingly captioned: "Tomorrow, tonight, the rest of my life. ❤️"

Graciously, WWE sent their congratulations to the enemy camp on behalf of their own performer, giving the pair's permanent coupling a lovely thumbs up on their official website. That said, slightly snidely, they stopped short of using Spears' AEW name.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
