After getting the monster of all pushes in 2012, WWE booked themselves into a corner when it came to Ryback. He was unstoppable, but WWE needed to find a way to stop him when they thrust him into a world title program when then-champion CM Punk.

Brad Maddox turned up, and that was it for Ryback. A strange few months followed, but a light at the end of tunnel showed up the night after WrestleMania 29.

Sure, the heel turn didn't make any sense, but Ryback had gone from treading water to the main event of the show. Surely this was to make up for him getting in the way of the Punk to Rock to Cena program? Finally, the Big Guy would stand tall on top of the mountain, right?

Well, no. After the first match between the two was deemed a no contest Cena vanquished Ryback fairly easily, and within a few months Ryback as one half of a less-than-successful tag team with Curtis Axel. Much like others to come, having Cena routinely dispatch Ryback did nothing for either man.

It should have been a 'one loss and out' deal, or Ryback should have picked up a victory.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
