In many ways, the majority of these entries could have come with the same opening paragraph; '[enter name here] was a young heel with a whole hunk of momentum, looking guaranteed to become a top level player for the foreseeable future. Then, John Cena happened'.

Bray Wyatt was the 2014 version of this fateful trope. After making his debut in 2013, Wyatt was a breath of fresh air on the main roster. He looked different, he came with a unique aura and seemed destined to sit at the top table for many moons to come.

Then John Cena happened. The two faced off at WrestleMania XXX, and Cena thwarted all three members of the Wyatt Family in picking up the victory. Wyatt would get a victory back in a cage match not long after, albeit thanks to 'scary' child singing. Cena can't be on par though, and would neuter the Wyatts further in coming out on top of the feud.

Wyatt had promised so much going into the feud, and nothing came out of it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
