8 Amazing Wrestlers That FLOPPED In WWE
5. Diamond Dallas Page
Please allow for the dated reference, but there’s something a little Ferris Bueller about Diamond Dallas Page. Wrestling is filled with self-centered rogues, but not one of these famously sociopathic creatures will ever say a negative word about DDP, neither inside nor outside of the ring. With a legitimate fairytale story of breaking into the business later in his life, then defying the odds again to become one of the most beloved performers in WCW history, Dallas even delivered gold in the dying embers of that company’s tragic final 18 months.
All of this must have passed everyone on WWE’s creative team by, as one of the easiest slam dunk signings of all time was dismantled immediately, debuting as The Undertaker’s wife’s mystery stalker in an eye-wateringly ill-advised move. He was later saddled with a career-low motivational speaker gimmick that was antithetical to everything great about him and only served to alienate fans further.
This is all made even more baffling by the fact that the man is a natural real-life babyface, loved by fans and performers everywhere for just being the man he is. Despite WWE's inability to showcase Page's brilliance, his work in rehabilitating the likes of Jake Roberts and Scott Hall away from the ring ensures that he is still revered to this day.
